Love this place. It has all the shops you want, loads of restaurants and entertainment, all situated around a lake. Full list of shops .Great entertainment places include House of Blues, Cirque du Soleil, and the AMC Movie Theatre
Winter Park is a beautiful, charming, relaxing town just North of Orlando. Its easy just to relax for a morning or afternoon while you browse the shops or enjoy some delicious food in one of the many cafes and restaurants. You can also enjoy the Scenic Boat Tour which last for about an hour. You are guided through some narrow manmade channels into 3 of the 7 lakes where you will get to see Florida wildlife and the Mansions that are built around the lakes. Just take some time and chill.
Orlando Balloon Rides. There isn't a herd of wild horses that would persuade me to get in one, but those people I know that have been up, absolutely loved it.
Orlando HeliTours fly Bell Jet Ranger aircraft so will experience all the sites Orlando has to offer from one of the safest operators. They also offer aerial photography and filming and are a trusted supplier for local and state government agencies.
iFly Orlando is an indoor skydiving experience so you can experience free falling without the terror of jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane.
This is one of my favourite places to visit. It's about a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Providence and you will probably want to spend about 4-5 hours there. I still can't get over how big the Saturn 5 rocket is and how small the lunar capsule is. The whole thing is awe inspiring.
You have Gatorland, where you have a zip line going over the Gators and a Night Shine feeding experience; Forever Florida, horses, ziplines, and plenty of natural wildlife; Wild Florida, where you can see gators, go on an airboat ride and a great thing that we did, which was to interact with their Sloths. They also have a new drive through safari park opening in 2020.
The Orlando Science Centre is a private science museum located in Orlando. You have interactive zones for AI, kinetics, nature kids etc etc.
My eldest daughter and I love this; my wife and youngest daughter hate it. You can shoot everything from small pistols, Magnum 47's, pump action shotguns, to fully automatic machine guns. It really brings home the power of these weapons. We go to the Orlando Gun Club, but other options are Machine Gun America where you can also drive a tank, Orlando Gun Range and Oak Ridge Gun Range.
I love doing this. You get the roar and speed of the airboat, followed by peace and tranquillity as you float in the middle of a lake and take in natural Florida. Its just great fun !
Some of the choices are Boggy Creek Airboats, Spirit of the Swamp, Kissimmee Airboat Tours, Old Fashioned Airboat Rides
Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park is a progressively challenging aerial obstacle course set high atop the trees in a natural pine forest, each one more exhilarating than the last. It boasts a 425' zip wire alongside 97 other challenges !
Plenty to choose from. Most are floodlit so a great way to spend an evening. We've played Pirates Cove, Congo River, Fantasia Fairways, Hollywood DriveIn, Lost Caverns
This is one of our favourite places. Celebration is a Disney creation to try and replicate an ordinary mid 20th Century American town. You can walk around the sleepy town or around the lakes and nature reserve. You can rent bikes and cycle for minutes or hours on fairly flat paths around the nature reserves. Loads of little coffee shops and restaurants. Just relax and chill out for a morning or afternoon.
Crytal River is so much more than swimming with Manatees. As the name suggests it is some of the clearest water you can swim in, but you can also kayak, fish, scallop, or just relax and sight See. However I can't recommend the Manatee experience enough. They are very professional, there are strict rules about the interaction, strictly no touching, and these magnificent creatures are in the wild just going about their daily business of eating and chilling.
Centrally located between Tampa and Orlando, Bok Tower Gardens is about a 50 minute drive from Providence. It's set among rolling hills of citrus and has the Pinewood Estate Mediterranean style mansion and of course the 205 foot new-Gothic Singing Tower.
About 50 miles from Providence, Mount Dora is old Florida. Situated on the edge of Lake Dora it is home to one of 3 freshwater lighthouses in Florida. Loads of shops, restaurants and museums, you also have the museum of speed with an extensive collection of classic cars, plus a replica of a 1940's gas station.
St. Augustine is about 140 mile drive from Providence but is well worth a visit, probably best with an overnight stay. It lays claim to being the oldest city in the US. We recommend the Trolley Bus Tour as you can hop on and off and the drivers are a great source of information. Full info can be found here
